AREC Application for Ethics Review
Apply Online Through the AREC Applicant Dashboard

The APCORE Research Ethics Committee (AREC) Application for Ethics Review Dashboard provides applicants with a centralized online platform for submitting a New Application for Ethics Review or an Amendment to a Previous Ethics Review Application.
Through the dashboard, applicants can create and verify an account, complete the ethics application, upload required research documents, submit the application for administrative screening, obtain an AREC Reference Number, and monitor the progress of the application.

Before You Apply
Applicants are advised to prepare the required AREC forms and research documents before starting the online application.

The templates contain instructions on how to prepare the required documents. Sample accomplished forms may also be provided for reference.
Applicants must exercise due diligence when completing the application. All information should be accurate, complete, and consistent with the research protocol and supporting documents. Uploaded files should be properly accomplished, signed where required, clearly labeled, and readable.
How to Apply
1. Create an Applicant Account
Open the AREC Application Dashboard and select Create Account.
Provide your:

Preferred username
-
Email address
-
Affiliation or institution
-
Full name, where applicable
-
Contact number, where applicable
-
Password and password confirmation
Your password must contain 12–128 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters, a number, and a special character.
2. Verify Your Email
Enter your registered email address and the six-digit verification code sent to your email.
Email verification must be completed before you can access the Applicant Dashboard.
3. Sign In
Log in using your username or verified email address and password.
Once signed in, select Start an Application.
4. Choose Your Application Type
Select either:
New Application — for a research study being submitted to AREC for ethics review for the first time.
Amendment to a Previous Ethics Review Application — for proposed modifications to a study that has already been submitted to AREC and assigned an AREC Reference Number.
For amendments, use the same AREC Reference Number assigned to the previous application.
Documents for a New Application
Prepare the following before completing the online application:
AREC-95
Letter of Intent for Ethics Review, Declaration and Endorsement
Formally requests AREC ethics review and identifies the research being submitted.
AREC-96
Participant Information and Informed Consent Form
Provides participants with information about the study, procedures, risks, benefits, voluntary participation, withdrawal, confidentiality, data use, and consent.
AREC-97
Parental Permission and Minor Assent Forms
Required when minors are involved, as applicable. When not applicable, follow the instructions provided in the AREC template.
AREC-98
Full Research Protocol
Provides the complete scientific and ethical description of the study, including the background, objectives, methodology, participants or data sources, sampling, instruments, procedures, timeline, analysis plan, ethical considerations, data safeguards, and references.
AREC-99
Research Instruments Package
Includes questionnaires, interview or focus group guides, observation forms, tests, rating scales, recruitment materials, and other data-collection instruments.
AREC-100
Other Supporting Documents
May include validation certificates, permissions, previous approvals, training certificates, data-protection documents, institutional endorsements, site permissions, photographs, communications, or other supporting records.
AREC-108
Proof of Payment
Upload a clear and readable copy of the applicable proof of payment showing the available payment details and transaction or reference number.
After Submission
Following successful submission, the system will process the application and generate an application record or PDF containing your:
AREC Reference Number
Keep your AREC Reference Number.
It serves as the primary reference throughout the ethics review process, including:
application status checking • correspondence • revisions • amendments • monitoring • reporting • study closure • applicable AREC certificates
Save the generated application receipt or PDF for your records.

Important Reminders

Submission does not constitute ethics approval. Research activities requiring ethics clearance should commence only after the appropriate AREC approval or clearance has been issued.

Respond promptly to AREC communications. Applicants may receive requests for clarification, corrections, additional documents, or revisions during the review process.

Maintain consistency. Any revision made to one research document should also be reflected in other affected documents.

Report material changes. Proposed changes to an approved study should undergo the appropriate amendment process before implementation, where applicable.
